Thai Flooding Causes Order Delays

Thailand Flooding - Courtesy eweek.com

Due to the flooding in Thailand, technology suppliers like HP and Dell are reducing or delaying shipments.  Typically OGsys clients can order new hard drives and storage and expect delivery in a week.  Right now, shipments are taking as long as 30 to 45 days.

Our world-class OGsys support team is monitoring the situation and instructing clients accordingly.  We are encouraging clients, especially those who are scheduling to upgrade from OGwin to OGsql to plan additional time for the conversion process. (more…)

Saturday, December 24th, 2011

Aurora Oil & Gas Team in Perth Australia

OGsys international consultant Ted Frank just wrapped up a week in Perth Australia training clients at Aurora Oil & Gas on how to accelerate answers with OGsql.

Aurora is an interesting client because their properties are located primarily in the Eagle Ford shale play in South Texas, they are listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange and their headquarters are in Perth.  They are an international client in the truest sense.  They have been setting up their Houston office for the last few months with support from Todd Graves & Co.  They are using Abletek to host OGsql so the system can be accessed by Houston and Perth offices together. IRS Cracks Down on Small Businesses

Tuesday, October 25th, 2011

According to a recent article in the Wall Street Journal, the IRS is cracking down on small businesses in an effort to collect more taxes.  The agency is requiring companies that are being audited to turn over exact copies of electronic records kept in their business-software programs.

This is a major concern for those businesses because turning over raw data means they are turning over other, unrelated, confidential client information.  According to a source in the WSJ article, the IRS has purchased copies of Quickbooks, a software program commonly used by many small businesses, in order to mine the raw data.  Some fear it will lead to a fishing expedition to find other problems. OGsys Enjoys Evening of Wine & Cheese Tasting with the Women’s Energy Network of North Texas

Tuesday, September 27th, 2011

OGsys sponsored and participated in a great evening of wine and cheese tasting and networking with the Women’s Energy Network of North Texas on Tuesday, October 11. Female professionals from various fields in the oil and gas industry were in attendance ranging from Land and Accounting to Administrative and Executives.

Tara Lockhart, OGsys Account Manager, attended the event for the first time and found it very beneficial.

“Events like this help us stay more apprised of what’s going on in the industry, beyond just accounting,” said Lockhart.

“Being a member of this organization provides me with contacts all over the industry that I can talk to and gather information from,” said OGsys Chief Operating Officer Barbara Schweitzer. “It’s a great way to stay connected and keep our finger on the pulse of what’s happening in the industry.”

The Women’s Energy Network will hold presentations throughout the year to invite new members. For more information, contact Laura Dees at Laura.Dees@crowehowarth.com.
